The name Lancaster has nearly come to mean Pennsylvania Amish Country. Here, many people live in a religious, family-oriented way that eschews mainstream culture. The entire landscape, with its rolling hills covered in crops and grasses, farms with windmills, and horse and buggies sharing the road, denotes a different way of life.

Lancaster is packed full of attractions for you to explore. There are amusements parks, interactive farms, pretzel and chocolate factories, buggy rides, train attractions, and local sports to name a few.

If outlet shopping is your thing, there is a section of road in Lancaster County called Route 30 with a well-known cluster of outlet stores, the Rockvale Outlets Lancaster and Tanger Outlet Center. Route 30 is also home to many other attractions and restaurants.

The town of Strasburg in Lancaster County is home to an array of train-related activities. The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania has over 100 locomotives and cars dating from the mid-19th to 20th centuries, many of which have been restored. The museum also includes the Stewart Junction railway education center, which has entertaining and educational hands-on activities. Go smaller, and see an extensive collection of toy trains and accessories with some antique pieces dating back to the mid-1800s at the National Toy Train Museum.

The Sight and Sound Theatres is also located in Strasburg. With 2000 seats and a 300 foot wrap-around stage, this is the nation's largest Christian theater. The company was founded in 1976, and past productions include Noah the Musical, Miracle of Christmas and Jospeh.
